As the makers of Angry Birds prepare to launch the new spin-off game Bad Piggies later today, an Iranian company named PendAR has raised the bar with its Augmented Reality (AR) version of Angry Birds. A technology known as Markerless AR converts the game into a 3D scene that can be projected onto any surface, such as a coffee table. Using PendAR's app, programmers can create the image to be used as the playfield. Data from the device's camera then helps in "transferring" the image to the physical surface. PendAR's game is still in beta; it will probably never make its way into a commercial product. For now though, here's a quick demo of how it works:
