Alcatel Introduces New 3G Dongles, Partners Nimbuzz For Instant MessagingNimbuzz, the "Indian" internet chat client, has been one of the most popular IM programmes ever since it was created in 2006, recently growing to a userbase of more than 100 million worldwide. In a bid to use some of that success to its advantage, ALCATEL ONE TOUCH, a Chinese manufacturer of cheap-ass mobile phones, has partnered with Nimbuzz to provide its instant messaging and internet voice chat (VOIP) services along in its newly-introduced 3G dongles, the ONE TOUCH X230E and X230S.

The new mobile broadband devices utilize 3G networks to offer download and upload speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and 5.76 Mbps respectively. The dongles also feature an expansion slot for microSD cards, with a limit of 16 GB. The detailed specifications include:
  • Plug & Play capability.
  • HSPA \ UMTS (3G) 2100 MHz support.
  • Quad-band GPRS \ EDGE (850 \ 900 \ 1800 \ 1900 MHz) function.
  • HSPA downlink of max 7.2Mbps and uplink of max 5.76 Mbps.
  • Supports Windows 7 \ Vista \ XP \ Mac Os 10.4.9 - 10.6.6 \ Linux.
  • MicroSD card up to 16 GB, USB 2.0 interface.
  • 3.4" x 1" x 0.4" (10 mm).
