If you’ve been waiting for the Carbon for Android Twitter client, you’ll be happy to know that it’s releasing this July 22nd! And if that wasnt awesome enough, the Developer Dots & Lines announced on their Google+ that it’s going to be a free app.
A free, fully featured Twitter app. Oh hells yeah. Judging from the early previews and feedback about the design and features from people trying out a beta of Carbon, it’s pretty awesome. I keep hearing people talking about the scrolling too, so I cant wait to check it out, heh.
Unfortunately though the reason why the app is free, isnt too great for the developers, who are based in the UAE. Apparently Google havent allowed paid apps from the UAE currently, and as a result Dots & Line have decided to publish the app as free, instead of waiting for that to happen. Hopefully they’ll let us donate to them, because they’re no ads in the app either.
So, we finally decided to make it a free app. Yep, a premium free app. No Ads (we believe that Ads cripple the experience no matter how efficiently done, it’s just wrong on an app that users use all day long). Going free, doesn’t mean watering the app down, but a mean to get the app that we’ve been working on for a long time, designs that went through endless iterations and tweaking to be experienced out there by our eager friends who’ve been waiting for months.
