After moving the
Aakash tablet out of
IIT Rajasthan for testing with
IIT Bombay, the upgraded variant of the device promises to come with more features.
HRD Minister Kapil Sibal now says that the
tablet is ready for launch.
Datawind CEO Sunit Singh Tuli further stated that the new specifications have been approved by the government, and sources suggest that the device might be available by the first week of July. Tuli also said that production will commence a few day prior to the launch, and that a "good number of devices" will be ready before the launch date.
Sibal added that the device can also be used to access e-governance services. He further suggests that the gadget can also aid creating programs. He said, "Unlike other tablet devices, Aakash can also be used to create computer programs, in Python, C, C++, and Scilab". Let's just hope it works well as the makers suggest.
