After Samsung's announcement of the ATIV Tab, it's now Dell'sturn to present its Windows 8 hardware at IFA. The new arrivals in Dell's camp include the XPS 10 tablet and XPS Duo 12 convertible ultrabook. Like its name suggests, the XPS 10 sports a 10" multi-touch screen. This slate can be turned into a laptop by attaching a keyboard accessory, which also happens to hold an additional battery. Dell claims that this extra cell helps to extend the tablet's uptime to as long as 20 hours on a single charge. The slate will be powered by an ARM CPU and run Windows RT, which is the low-power version of the Windows 8 OS. Next, the XPS Duo 12 is an odd but unique hybrid that offers the functionality of a tablet and ultrabook in a single package. Its 12.5" Full HD (1080p) touchscreen features a swivel hinge design, which allows you to easily switch it between the tablet and laptop form factors. Unlike the XPS 10, the Duo 12 will be powered by an Intel Core series CPU, and probably run Windows 8 Pro. Dell claims that the gadget is made of aluminium and carbon fibre, while its screen is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass. That's about all it's chosen to reveal for now.
According to the press release, all three computing devices will launch along with the October-end release of Windows 8. However, as of this writing, there's no word on the pricing.
